Happy New Year!! Hope everyone’s holiday was filled with joy and happiness!! Mine definitely was, as well as carbohydrates and sugar. Hey I’m only human. It’s time to get back on track.
This year I traveled to New York City once again, to spend Christmas with my family. My mom cooked some amazing food, hence the five pounds I put on. Two things that I hear a lot from people that are athletes, fitness competitors, or are just struggling to maintain there weight or lose a few pounds, I pretty much confirmed to be true for myself these past couple of weeks:
1. If you don’t keep junk food in the house, you’re not going to eat it.
I have a sweet tooth that never fails me, no matter what time of year it is. I noticed though, that if I don’t keep Hot Tamales in the house, I don’t really crave them enough to drop what I’m doing and go out and get them. Unfortunately, my mom throws a lot of parties during the holidays, so her house looks like a Costco for sugar junkies. Being there seven days, I did put on a few. But coming back to Los Angeles and only having clean food in the fridge (chicken, fish, vegetables, etc.) makes it a lot easier to maintain good eating habits.
2. Having an eating routine can mean having better eating habits.
If you’re on vacation, you’re more likely to eat out a few times a day. If it’s a holiday and you go off to visit different people, you’re more likely to eat more often. If you have a routine of getting up, working out, going to work, or whatever your day brings you during the week, you probably have limited amounts of time to eat. As a personal trainer and pro-wrestler, my schedule is constantly changing. So whether or not I have a client early in the morning, I’m still setting an alarm for myself, and my meals are usually planned out.
This is just a little advice from my own experiences that I wanted to share. In order to live healthy, lifestyle changes may need to be made. We can live the entire year like it’s the holidays!! Little things make a WORLD of a difference!
Stay healthy, stay posi, and here’s to a GREAT New Year!
